There are no barriers with a gap-year. Whether you have recently finished school or fall into the category of mature traveller Argentinized offers a wide range of gap-time out programmes which guarantee an excelent opportunity when it comes to immersing yourself into the argentine culture.
This programme will enable you to volunteer providing very basic English teaching through playing or singing with children. All of the children are starved of affection, and volunteering in can be a challenging task. However, the children are usually warm and friendly and they respond well to care, attention and affection They normally come from deprived or abusive backgrounds and have been taken into care by the justice department.
The programme was built upon the belief that sport is fun for everyone, but also extremely beneficial in building team spirit and skills, communication and leadership skills. Thus, we have a variety of sports available to provide and we also offer you to play sport which will give you a real insight into the local sporting scene. The idea is that you will act as an assistant coordinator/coach of your preferred sport, or you could help with a range of sports in a specific community.
Working with this project gives you the opportunity to help directly with some of the argentine's poorest families to build bonds of friendship while you learn a variety of skills. You will also have the chance to teach English and thus you will help them to develop an invaluable language skill. In addition, the community works producing bread and milk and selling them through volunteers. Thereby, the project allows you to work in either the daily milk or the bakery. It is an amazing experience you will never forget.
This project will allow you to gain experience in medicine, or simply to challenge yourself in a friendly environment where your assistance is really needed. You'll work at a community health care centre located in a rural setting that is open to the general public and supports the poorer section of the community. The centre is run entirely free of charge for patients who can't afford to pay. This is a challenging and rewarding project.
Soup kitchens in Buenos Aires are the daily source of nutrition for infants and toddlers of underprivileged families. The 'comedor' serves lunch and dinner daily with food donated from local businesses, companies, etc.
