This programme represents and invaluable opportunity to work in a football club with teams and coaches. Under supervision, you will learn to design and apply rehabilitation concepts, to recognize, evaluate and treat a variety of athletic injuries.
The idea is to acquire skills and knowledge valuable to all health care fields. As with any internship, self motivation, dedication, and initiative play a key role in the intern's success.
The sport medicine elective is a learning experience for the intern who is required to work a minimum of 4-6 hours per day.
These hours will consist of various experiences including learning basic athletic training skills, knowledge of the use of therapeutic modalities, first aid and emergency procedures, and daily Athletic Training Room operations.
A minimum of one month is required to intern within the club. In return, the candidate will be provided with comprehensive experiences in the sports medicine clinic, sports rehabilitation, preventative injury programming and on-the-field evaluation opportunities through local outreach athletic and football programs.
